The Oasis in the Desert
The Lord brought my family to the Oasis in the Desert in 1971, a time during my high school years that should have been an exciting time — looking forward to being a junior in high school. As we drove in the night, it was all lit up and we thought we had finally arrived at a big city. But we awakened in the morning to find it was the desert!
The military, Air Force branch, had assigned my father to what seemed like nowhere land. The desert was the place God called us to in order to clip our wings — transitioning from our security blanket of living on military bases to entering the civilian world with my parents purchasing a home in Alamogordo, Otero County, New Mexico.
